Nilufar Depot Presents ‘Repertorio’ at Milan Design Week 2025
Each year, Milan Design Week unveils a rich tapestry of design experiences across the city, but few are as strikingly immersive as a visit to Nilufar Depot. Housed in a vast 1,500 sqm former warehouse in Viale Lancetti, the space transforms annually into a stage for bold creative visions—and 2025 was no exception.
For this year’s edition of the fair, the central section of the Depot was dramatically reimagined as “Nilufar: Repertorio”, an ambitious scenographic exhibition curated by the gallery’s legendary founder, Nina Yashar. Divided into five theatrical “acts,” Repertorio unfolds as a multi-sensory exploration of the delicate tensions between craftsmanship and art, past and future, nature and artifice. Visitors are invited to wander through carefully orchestrated compositions, each revealing new dialogues between materiality, form, and narrative.
Founded in 1979, Nilufar Gallery has long held a pioneering role in the international design scene. Known for anticipating design trends and spotlighting exceptional talent, the gallery seamlessly blends mid-century modern classics with cutting-edge contemporary design. From its original home on Via della Spiga to the vast industrial charm of Nilufar Depot, Yashar’s vision has remained steadfast: Discovering, crossing, creating.
Over the decades, Nilufar has become a vital destination for collectors, institutions, and design aficionados, drawing them into a world where historical icons and emerging innovators coexist harmoniously. The gallery’s dynamic programming includes not only furniture and lighting but also experimental installations that challenge traditional boundaries of design.
The 2025 exhibition at Nilufar Depot offered a powerful expression of this ethos. Through the lens of Repertorio, Yashar continues to push the gallery’s cultural and curatorial ambitions, weaving together the past and present with poetic finesse. The surrounding installations featured works by a vibrant roster of contemporary designers and artists—each piece echoing the spirit of experimentation and craftsmanship that defines the Nilufar name.
Accompanied by a striking visual display, the exhibition underscored why Nilufar Depot remains one of the most anticipated stops on the Milan Design Week circuit. It is a space not merely to view design but to experience it—deeply, dramatically, and differently.
