M2atelier Unveils Yacht Interior Design for Azimut’s Grande Trideck
Award-winning Milan-based architecture and design studio m2atelier has revealed its latest masterpiece in yacht interior design: the interiors of the Azimut Grande Trideck, a 38.22-meter flagship yacht that represents the next chapter in Azimut’s celebrated Grande Series. Infused with the studio’s distinctive philosophy of barefoot luxury, the Grande Trideck marks a significant collaboration between Azimut Yachts and the internationally acclaimed practice led by co-founders Marijana Radovic and Marco Bonelli.
The partnership signals a bold step forward for contemporary yacht interiors; spaces that are no longer defined only by opulence, but by emotional resonance, architectural refinement, and a sense of effortless sophistication.
Redefining Yacht Interiors: A New Chapter for Azimut
The Grande Trideck is not just another addition to Azimut’s fleet; it is the embodiment of a new design vocabulary that balances restraint with richness, intimacy with expansiveness. For Azimut, a brand synonymous with innovation in yacht building, the collaboration with m2atelier represents a fresh design vision; one that prioritises proportion, flow, and texture as much as traditional notions of luxury.
The interiors of the Grande Trideck are rooted in an architectural clarity that immediately distinguishes it from many of its contemporaries. The use of layered materials, sculpted forms, and hidden technologies results in a yacht interior that is both contemporary and timeless. m2atelier’s approach is not about spectacle for its own sake; instead, it seeks to create a sense of atmosphere, spaces that evolve with light, movement, and experience.
The Signature “Unveiling Wall”
Among the standout innovations of the Grande Trideck is the Unveiling Wall, a feat of engineering and craftsmanship that has become a defining m2atelier design element. Composed of delicately positioned vertical slats and a bespoke sliding mechanism, the wall conceals a television that appears only when required. More than a functional device, the wall becomes a statement of architectural storytelling—merging performance, tactility, and surprise.
This philosophy continues throughout the main saloon, where a second Unveiling Wall crafted from two contrasting materials casts shifting shadows as natural light moves across the space. A pleated curtain reminiscent of theatre drapery further enhances the atmosphere, concealing another hidden TV and creating moments of cinematic drama. Combined with a two-layer ceiling and expansive glass windows, the saloon is designed to shift seamlessly between openness and discretion, embodying m2atelier’s barefoot luxury concept.
Spaces Designed for Transformation
One of the most striking aspects of the Grande Trideck is its emphasis on transformative space. This is particularly evident in the Sky Lounge, which has been conceived as a dynamic environment that adapts to different needs and moods. Seating for twelve can be arranged for either formal dining or casual lounging. At the same time, light fabric ceiling panels give the impression of floating above the space, invoking the spirit of a veranda that blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors.
The Owner’s Suite also demonstrates m2atelier’s commitment to layered design. Invisible doors and subtle partitions create depth and perspective while maintaining an uninterrupted flow of natural light. A sculpted chaise longue runs alongside the sweeping curve of the side windows, connecting the suite directly to the sea and emphasising the relationship between form and environment.
Elsewhere, the recessed foredeck pool invites moments of relaxation, offering a refreshing pause that enhances the yacht’s balance between sociability and private retreat. Every detail, whether in the integration of discreet technologies or the whisper-like refinement of finishes, has been considered to heighten the atmosphere without overwhelming it.
Outdoor Living, Reimagined
m2atelier’s barefoot luxury philosophy extends naturally to the Grande Trideck’s outdoor spaces. The Sky Lounge transforms effortlessly, shifting from shaded lounge to enclosed dining area thanks to a custom-designed trapezoidal table and flexible glazing. This adaptability ensures that the yacht’s exterior spaces respond to the rhythm of the day, evolving from relaxed daytime retreat to sophisticated evening setting.
As with the interiors, intricate detailing defines the design. Materials have been chosen not only for durability at sea but also for their tactile and visual qualities, ensuring continuity between interior and exterior environments. Here, as across the vessel, integrated technologies enhance the experience discreetly rather than dominating it.
Light as Architecture
For m2atelier, light is not merely a design element but a foundational principle. As co-founder Marco Bonelli explains:
“For us, light is not an accessory. It’s the silent force that gives form to space, reveals the textures of materials, and brings emotional depth to the onboard experience. On the Grande Trideck, light becomes architecture.”
From soft shadow play across textured surfaces to expansive windows framing shifting seascapes, light is carefully choreographed to enrich the sensory experience of the yacht. It enhances materials, shapes perspectives, and introduces an emotional quality that anchors the interiors firmly in the realm of architectural design.
Barefoot Luxury: The Philosophy Behind the Design
The term barefoot luxury encapsulates m2atelier’s philosophy of creating environments that are elegant yet approachable, sophisticated yet free of unnecessary formality. It is a design ethos that speaks to comfort without compromising on refinement, where a sense of ease, authenticity, and connection to place defines luxury.
As co-founder Marijana Radovic notes:
“Designing for the sea has always been part of m2atelier’s DNA—our work in yachting reflects the same rigor, elegance, and emotional depth that defines our architectural projects on land. With the Grande Trideck, we are proud to unveil a new yacht interior for Azimut that reimagines onboard living through our lens of barefoot luxury.”
This approach places the human experience at the centre of design, prioritising how people interact with spaces rather than treating interiors as static showcases.
A Growing Partnership: Future Projects for Azimut
The Grande Trideck represents only the beginning of m2atelier’s ongoing collaboration with Azimut. The studio is already finalising interiors for additional models set to debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2025, including the Grande 36M, the completely new Grande 30M, and the ambitious Grande 44M.
Slated for delivery in 2026, the Grande 44M will become the new flagship of the Azimut fleet, debuting at both the Cannes and Monaco boat shows. Each of these projects will continue to explore the barefoot luxury philosophy, pushing boundaries of proportion, materiality, and spatial storytelling at sea.
The Future of Yacht Interior Design
With the Grande Trideck, m2atelier and Azimut have created more than just a luxury yacht; they have defined a new vision for yacht interior design. Rooted in architecture, attuned to emotion, and guided by the idea of barefoot luxury, the project reimagines life on the water as a seamless balance between sophistication and ease.
For design enthusiasts and yacht connoisseurs alike, the Grande Trideck is not only a showcase of innovation but also a declaration of intent: that the future of yachting lies in spaces that are both emotionally intelligent and innately human.
