Design Haus Liberty Creates a Sky-High Sanctuary at Thames City

Dara Huang, celebrated interior designer and founder of award-winning studio Design Haus Liberty, has unveiled her latest project: a three-bedroom residence within Thames City, the striking 53-storey landmark development along London’s River Thames. Known for her impressive portfolio, which includes 56 Leonard Street in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and Manolo Blahnik boutiques worldwide, Huang brings her signature balance of luxury and tranquillity to one of London’s most prestigious riverside addresses.

This new feature follows our previous coverage of standout design collaborations at Thames City, including the Thames City Sky Collection by Harrods Interior Design and Kelly Hoppen CBE’s Landmark Penthouse. Together, these projects highlight Thames City’s reputation as a destination for world-class interiors and architectural excellence.

A Private Sanctuary in the Sky

Located on the 37th floor of the No.8 building, this 1,064 sq ft residence has been envisioned as a serene escape from the vibrancy of central London. Design Haus Liberty has combined spa-like calm with plush, layered textures to create an environment that feels both intimate and expansive. The home comprises three generously proportioned bedrooms and a versatile studio space designed as a study but easily adaptable as a fourth bedroom.

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views of the River Thames and the iconic city skyline, blurring the line between interior and exterior. A soft palette of whites and creams contrasts deep, earthy tones, pulling in the natural greens of nearby parks and the passing clouds above to create an organic connection to nature.

Spa-Like Luxury Meets Refined Craftsmanship

The interiors reflect Design Haus Liberty’s meticulous attention to detail, using rich natural materials such as stone and wood alongside tactile finishes including tiger eye silk and cream suede. This pairing delivers a sense of understated opulence, elevated by pieces from ‘Dara Maison’, Huang’s debut furniture collection, and soft furnishings from luxury brands including Hermès, Loewe, Dior, and Ralph Lauren.

The open-plan living and dining area showcases thoughtful zoning, with a statement brass drinks cabinet subtly separating spaces without disrupting the flow. A bespoke marble dining table, a hand-finished brass chandelier by Brenta Grande, and artworks by Dara herself serve as focal points that enhance the home’s distinctive identity.

Bedrooms Designed for Distinctive Personalities

Each of the three bedrooms has its own character yet harmonises seamlessly within the overall design narrative:

  • Primary Suite: A retro-luxury vibe with a sculptural shell-shaped chandelier, textured wall panels, and an antique mirror creates a sophisticated, speakeasy-inspired retreat.

  • First Guest Bedroom: French retro elegance meets bold Afro-inspired prints for a vibrant, inviting atmosphere.

  • Second Guest Bedroom: A serene palette of vanilla and cream evokes timeless elegance, complemented by indulgent textures such as Hermès cashmere and soft wool cushions.

The studio features the Samantha Table by Dara Maison, paired with a large-scale painting, Marble 5 by Arran Rahiman, crafting the perfect backdrop for virtual meetings and creative work.

Setting a New Benchmark for London Living

Design Haus Liberty joins a team of globally recognised collaborators on Thames City, including Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), the architects behind the Burj Khalifa, and luxury hospitality specialists AB Concept. Together, they have curated a residential experience that embodies design innovation, craftsmanship, and prestige.

Dr Qing Wu, Director at Excel Winner, the developer behind Thames City, describes the residences as “some of the most prestigious in the UK, redefining luxury living in every detail – from the exquisite interiors to the world-class amenities.”

Available within the Sky Collection, a limited number of homes between the 39th and 53rd floors starting from £3.88m, the Design Haus Liberty residence offers a rare opportunity to live in one of London’s most exceptional riverside developments. Only a handful of residences remain.

Five-Star Amenities and Green Spaces

Residents enjoy access to the 1974 Club, a 6,400 sq m private members’ club offering some of London’s most exclusive amenities, including one of the city’s largest private swimming pools, a bespoke wellness centre, a state-of-the-art Technogym fitness suite, and beautifully curated residents’ lounges.

Beyond its interiors, Thames City celebrates its riverside setting with a newly landscaped 2.5-acre Nine Elms park, designed by landscape architects Gillespies. The park connects to the wider Linear Park, creating a green corridor linking Vauxhall, Nine Elms, and Battersea Power Station.
