TiggColl Delivers a Contemporary, Community-Driven Interior Design for Momento Hayes in West London
TiggColl architects has completed the interior design for Momento Hayes, a new residential development by Greystar that sets a new standard for urban living in West London. Home to 407 purpose-designed apartments, comprising 318 rental and 89 affordable homes. The development pairs contemporary design with a sense of local identity, creating an inspiring community-centred environment.
Drawing inspiration from Hayes’s rich industrial heritage, once renowned for its brick-making and traditional trades, TiggColl’s vision celebrates craftsmanship while embracing the future of urban living. Through a curated palette of tactile materials, earthy tones, and handcrafted textures, the interiors create a seamless dialogue between history, place, and modernity.
“We relished the opportunity to get to know the local area, which we found to be rich in inspiration,” says David Tigg, Founding Director of TiggColl. “We translated those stories into comfortable, modern, light-filled amenity spaces designed to bring the community together.”
A Celebration of Craft and Local Identity
From the moment residents enter the building, the double-height entrance lounge makes a bold design statement. A striking helical white-painted metal staircase anchors the space, acting as a sculptural centrepiece beneath a canopy of hand-blown glass pendant lights.
The design draws upon Hayes’ industrial past, expressed through terracotta brick-style flooring and bespoke oak shelving that doubles as a gallery, showcasing the work of local artists and makers. This celebration of craftsmanship helps establish a strong sense of place, rooting Momento Hayes in its surrounding context while creating interiors that feel authentic and warm.
The choice of natural materials, from oak and marble to stone and textured fabrics, creates a tactile, grounded quality that contrasts beautifully with the contemporary architecture. Subtle rust, cream, and neutral tones soften the aesthetic, fostering an atmosphere of calm while maintaining a refined elegance.
Designed for Community and Connection
Spanning three floors, the shared amenity spaces are designed to foster interaction, collaboration, and well-being. TiggColl has created a diverse range of environments to suit different lifestyles and working patterns, balancing quiet, focused areas with social, communal zones.
Residents benefit from dedicated co-working areas that support modern hybrid lifestyles, complemented by lounges and breakout spaces designed to encourage spontaneous conversations and connections.
On the first floor, the interiors open up to dual-aspect views and a direct link to the exterior terrace, flooding the spaces with natural light and creating a sense of openness. A carefully curated material palette continues here, enhanced by richer jewel tones in the private dining room, which seamlessly flows into the games lounge and screening room, offering spaces for residents to relax, entertain, and unwind.
Amenities That Elevate Urban Living
Momento Hayes is designed to cater to a creative, forward-looking community, and its extensive amenities reflect this ethos. Beyond the elegant lounges and co-working spaces, the development includes:
A state-of-the-art gym
A music room designed for collaboration and creativity
A screening room with contemporary cinema-style design
A private dining room ideal for hosting
A bar and games lounge, complete with a pool table
A dedicated pet spa for four-legged residents
By integrating a diversity of spaces under one roof, the design blurs the boundaries between home, work, and leisure. This holistic approach to amenity design reflects a broader shift in contemporary residential developments, where flexibility and community are increasingly valued.
Light, Flow, and Functionality
One of the most striking qualities of TiggColl’s interiors is the seamless sense of flow. The helical staircase doesn’t just act as a sculptural focal point but creates an effortless transition between floors, linking private co-working areas with vibrant social lounges.
Throughout the building, strategic zoning ensures that the spaces feel intuitive and adaptable. Open-plan layouts are balanced with more intimate nooks, enabling residents to choose how they engage with the environment – whether it’s working collaboratively, enjoying quiet reflection, or hosting friends.
A Shared Vision Between Greystar and TiggColl
For Greystar, Momento Hayes represents more than just a residential development; it’s a lifestyle-driven community designed around real people and their needs.
“Offering high-quality urban living solutions for real people is central to what we do,” says Lauren Gilling, Design Director at Greystar. “We wanted the amenity spaces to be beautifully designed, welcoming, and modern, and TiggColl has certainly achieved that.”
This partnership builds on TiggColl’s established reputation for designing interiors that are radically human – an approach rooted in empathy, narrative, and playfulness. Their ability to create spaces that feel both contemporary and meaningful ensures that Momento Hayes reflects the character and aspirations of its residents.
